Abbott Laboratories Employees Credit Union (“ALEC”) is a credit union for current and retired Abbott and AbbVie employees and their family members. ALEC has branches in Illinois and Ohio. On October 18, 2024, ALEC sent out notice letters to individuals whose information was exposed during a data breach to their computer system. This breach occurred when an unauthorized user gained access to the ALEC computer system through an employee email account. The individual letters provide specifics about which data was compromised.
