Byte Federal Inc. is based in Venice, Florida and operates Bitcoin ATMs and the ByteWallet app. On December 12, 2024, Byte Federal Inc. sent out notice letters to 58,000 people alerting them that their data had been stolen in a breach of the Byte Federal computer system. The hacking incident was discovered in November, and Byte Federal determined that the unauthorized party had been able to access information including user names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, transaction histories, and photos.
