Providence Academy Data Breach

Providence Academy is a private Catholic school for PreK through 12th grades located in Plymouth, Minnesota. Recently it was revealed that the Providence Academy computer network was targeted in a ransomware attack.  The group responsible for the attack claims to have removed over 228 GB of internal school files, possibly including employee data (Social Security numbers, contact information, payroll information, tax documents, etc.), student data (names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, grades, transcripts, test results, etc.), and financial information (including tuition statements, bills, accounting files and financial aid forms).

Data breaches are serious matters that can cause long term damage. Hackers break into networks so that they can steal your personal information to sell it on the dark web, commit identity theft, financial theft or other frauds.
