Erie Insurance Data Breach

Erie Insurance is a company which offers, among other insurance products, data breach insurance to other businesses. They operate in D.C., Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.  Recently, Erie Insurance suffered a data breach to their own system which caused a network outage.  A notice posted on the company’s website as of this writing advises clients not to respond to any calls for payments, or click on any links sent to them appearing to be from Erie insurance while the company investigates.  

Data breaches are serious matters that can cause long term damage. Hackers break into networks so that they can steal your personal information to sell it on the dark web, commit identity theft, financial theft or other frauds.
