Midea Window Air Conditioners Recall

About the Investigation:
On June 5, 2025, Midea recalled 1.7 million U and U+ window air conditioner units. The Consumer Safety Commission describes the hazard posed by these units as a risk of water pooling inside them which can lead to mold growth. Mold spreads quickly and prolonged exposure to it can cause a range of health issues ranging from respiratory problems and allergic reactions to more severe problems including neurological and cognitive issues.
The Midea air conditioner units included in the recall are U and U+ models in sizes 8,000 BTU, 10,000 BTUÂ or 12,000 BTUÂ and were sold under the following brand names and model numbers:
