Hertz Corporation (“Hertz”) is the rental car company that operates Hertz, Dollar Car Rental and Thrifty Car Rental with locations not only throughout the U.S. but throughout the world. Hertz also operates Firefly car rental and Hertz 24/7 car share. Hertz recently announced a data breach which affected customer information, due to a flaw in a file sharing software called Cleo that is used by Hertz. The breach occurred in 2024, and the types of information compromised may include Hertz customer names, emails, phone numbers, dates of birth, credit card data, driver’s license information, Social Security numbers or Medicare ID numbers.
