Finastra Technology, Inc. recently disclosed that it suffered a data breach that compromised the sensitive personal data of certain individuals.
What Happened?
Finastra Technology, Inc., a global provider of financial software and technology solutions, experienced unauthorized access to its Secure File Transfer Platform (SFTP), which is used for client support. Finastra detected suspicious activity on November 7, 2024, revealing that unauthorized actors gained access between October 31 and November 8, 2024. The incident led to the exfiltration of files — reportedly up to 400 GB — containing potentially sensitive client information, including names, Social Security numbers, financial account information, and other private details.
Finastra began notifying affected clients on February 12, 2025, as indicated in its breach notice to the Massachusetts Attorney General, and started notifying impacted individuals in the United States on July 3, 2025. The company is offering 24 months of complimentary Experian IdentityWorks identity protection to affected individuals. Finastra has also engaged law enforcement, isolated the affected platform, and implemented additional security measures to prevent future breaches.
