The Illinois Genetic Information Protection Act (GIPA) does not allow an employer to ask about your family’s health history, since it violates your privacy rights.

Siri and Glimstad LLP is investigating ILLINOIS FIRE DEPARTMENTS regarding claims from firefighters and EMTs that they were asked about their family medical history during either the application process or their employment.
