If you used to work or currently work for Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois and were asked about your family’s health history at work, your employer may be in violation of Illinois law. The Illinois Genetic Information Protection Act (GIPA) does not allow an employer to ask about your family’s health history, since it violates privacy rights.
Siri and Glimstad LLP is investigating claims from Illinois residents that they were asked about their family medical history during either the application process or their employment.
