The Illinois Genetic Information Protection Act (GIPA) does not allow an employer to ask about your family’s health history, since it violates your privacy rights.

 

Siri and Glimstad LLP is investigating ILLINOIS POLICE DEPARTMENTS regarding claims from police officers that they were asked about their family medical history during either the application process or their employment.

 

If you live in Illinois, are a police officer and were asked within the last five years about your family’s health history by an HR manager or a superior at THE POLICE DEPARTMENT during the hiring process or your employment there, please fill out the form on this page.
