Trek – FAKE SALES Investigation
About the Investigation:
CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS!
Have you purchased an item online from Trek in the past 60 days? Was the item on sale? If yes, you may have been fooled by a fake sale and you may be entitled to substantial compensation! Please fill out the form on this page to see if you may qualify.
ABOUT THE CLAIMS: “Sale!” The excitement of seeing an online sale is palpable, especially when the sale is at one of our favorite stores! We quickly rush to the store’s website, add that special item to cart, mull over whether the small shipping fee is worth it, and then click check-out now! We then patiently wait for our delivery man to drop off our package so that we can tell all our family and friends what a great deal we got!
BUT… what if many online “sales” weren’t really sales at all? What if the word “sales” was just a retail tactic used to make you THINK you saved? Hmm…. Several national retailers may be doing just that via deceptive pricing schemes!
Deceptive pricing involves tricking consumers into thinking they are getting a better price than usual. To create this “smoke and mirrors” effect, many retailers show a “sale” price that is just the normal price at which they sell the product. By saying it’s a “sale” – when it is not – they are tricking customers into thinking that the product normally sells for much more.
