The Illinois Genetic Information Protection Act (GIPA) does not allow an employer to ask about your family’s health history, since it violates their privacy rights.

Siri and Glimstad LLP is investigating Elkay — the manufacturer of sinks, faucets, drinking fountains and other foodservice products — regarding claims by Illinois residents that they were asked about their family medical history during either the application process or their employment with Elkay.
